The alive culture

We’re not a traditional studio; we’re real, a little crazy, loud music, and lots of laughs. We move together because doing it alone is hard.
We’re not doctors/biokineticists. If you’re injured, pregnant or postpartum, please get medical clearance - and start with Pilates Foundations so we can assess and build a sustainable plan.

Why heat it up (with Infrared)

Gentle to fierce - on purpose. Our infrared panels warm your body (not just the air), helping muscles soften, joints move easier, and sweat do its magic. Some classes run hot-yoga hot and you’ll be drenched. We love that.

Here are the deets...

We aim for a steady warm-to-hot environment - typically around 32-35°C, so you can move safer, deeper and with fewer niggles.

Infrared heat feels “from the inside out,” which most people find more comfortable than blasting hot air.
Cape Town weather and floor temps can shift the feel a bit. We watch the room and adjust panels, fans and airflow so it stays safe, breathable and spicy - never miserable.

If something feels off, say so and we’ll tweak it.

Our newcomer top tips

We know joining a new fitness studio can feel daunting, but don’t stress - we’re here to make it easy for you! After all, this is what we are all trained to do. Here are a few key things to help you feel prepared and at ease for your first class.

Whether you’re a seasoned mover or just starting out, Alive is a space where you can show up exactly as you are. No egos, no pressure - just good vibes, great people, and movement that feels right for you. Let’s get you settled in!

Food is fuel, remember

Fuel your body wisely! The right food can make or break your workout - keep it light before heated classes and opt for energising, easy-to-digest meals to keep you feeling strong and supported.

Stay Hydrated

I.e. Drink the damn water

Consider what you eat

Drink plenty of water before class to stay hydrated, as you'll be sweating a lot!

What to wear for a class

This isn't a runway, be comfy!

Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident - it’s not a fashion show, but feeling good matters! Grip socks are essential to partake in a class at alive. Why? Because, hygiene.

What else do you need to bring?

Besides your most authentic self

Arrive Early

Don't be late

Arriving on time isn’t just for you - it’s for everyone. Being a group studio, late arrivals can disrupt the flow and energy of the class. Aim to be in studio at least 5-10 minutes early so you can settle in, breathe, and get the most out of your session!

A sweat towel and a large bottle of water are non-negotiable! Staying hydrated and fresh is key to making the most of your class.

Pace yourself

Leave your ego at the door

Your first class might feel overwhelming, so take it easy. This isn't a race; no one is keeping score. Ease into the exercises and let your body adjust. We're here to support you and help you feel good.

After Class Tips

Time to take care of you

You did it! Now, make sure to rehydrate, especially after a heated class. Grab a nutritious snack, stretch a little, and give your body the recovery it deserves. And most importantly - soak in that post-class glow!
